Stories from the SCALF…..

Let me start by saying that all of my stories are not from a SCALF (Speciality Care Assist Living), some are Nursing Home or Independant Living facility which I worked in. I’m just going to name it “Stories from the SCALF” because that is where I worked the longest. Some stories are sad, some are funny, but I hope that most of them give you some understanding of the people living there or working there.

Although, my stories are true I will change names of the precious residents that I adored. I’m sure most all of them passed from their earthly life, they will forever be in my memories and my heart. Through my stories they will live on.

Why stories? In my stories I hope to share with you a better understanding of how to communicate and have patience with someone with age related issues, Alzheimer’s or other Dementias. My hope is you will better understand behaviors and approach and why it’s important to understand. My hope is that you will better understand that their perception is their reality just as I spent years learning.
